Sampo Rainio signs for 2024

Sampo Rainio and Young Motion powered by Resa sign deal for 2024 MX2 GP season

The Netherlands, November 6th 2023 – Young Motion powered by Resa has signed a deal with Sampo Rainio for the 2024 MX2 GP season. Sampo is 19 years old and from Finland, and he finished 5th in the EMX 2 stroke championship while winning the MX2 title in Finland. He will compete in the majority of the Grand Prix, as well as the Dutch Masters and the Finnish national championship.

Ron aan de Stegge, Team Owner: ‘Sampo is still very young and mainly raced as a privateer in Finland last season. He has only done limited EMX campaigns during his career, but in the 4 races he did in 2023 he impressed us at every round: Top 5 overall in EMX 2T, 14th in qualifying in his GP debut, 10th in EMX250 at Sweden and top 10 in qualifying at EMX250 in Latvia. With the speed he has shown we expect him to be competitive right away and improve further during the season.

Sampo Rainio: ‘It’s great to get the opportunity to step up to the GP level. I have done EMX250 for the past three years and have improved a lot to getting top 10 results, so I feel I am now ready to move up. I will continue my physical training in Finland for the next month or so, then go in trainingscamp in southern Europe and after that start with pre-season races in the Netherlands to be well prepared for the first GP. I am excited and cannot wait to start working!’

Rainio is the 2nd signing of the team, joining Arvid Lüning. The team will announce their third rider in the following weeks.
